Compassionate, Quality Comfort Care

Family Hospice, Part of UPMC — West

Family Hospice, Part of UPMC, has been providing expert end-of-life care to patients and families in western Pennsylvania since 1980. Care is designed to ease the pain, symptoms, and stress of life-limiting illness. We honor an individual’s goals and values and support caregivers in the desire to provide the highest possible quality of life.

We provide care to patients in private homes, skilled nursing, assisted living and personal care residences, and hospitals. Additionally, Family Hospice operates a 12-bed inpatient hospice unit  for short-term, acute hospice care in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of the city of Pittsburgh.

Family Hospice physicians are board-certified experts in hospice and palliative medicine.

Additionally, Family Hospice offers non-clinical, complementary services to enhance patient care including pet-assisted visits, art, music, massage, aroma, and reiki therapies.

Remembrance Pillows

For families of those who have died on Family Hospice’s service, we offer one complimentary remembrance pillow. Each 12” pillow is made by our volunteer seamstresses from two to three articles of your deceased family member’s clothing.

Materials that work best are blue jean, cotton, flannel, fleece, sweatshirt, and terry cloth. For more information, please call 412-572-8829

The Remembrance Pillow Project is made possible through a grant from the Pittsburgh Pirates Alumni Association and other private donations.
